Campervan Fridges For Sale at CamperNV
Compressor or absorption fridge?
A 12V compressor fridge cools quickly, copes well with warm weather and works at an angle, which makes it the usual choice for campervan conversions running on leisure batteries and solar. An absorption fridge runs silently and can switch between gas, 230V hook-up and 12V while driving, so it suits motorhomes and caravans that spend time off grid with a gas supply.
Choosing the right size
Measure the cut-out in your furniture before you order, allowing for the frame and any ventilation gap stated by the manufacturer. Slimline and drawer fridges fit under worktops in smaller vans, while larger tall fridges with freezer compartments suit longer trips and bigger layouts. If you are planning a full build, our campervan kits and portable power ranges help you put the rest of the kitchen and electrics together.
Fitting, ventilation and power
Absorption fridges need correctly fitted vents and a gas installation carried out by a competent engineer. Compressor fridges need suitably sized cable and a fused supply from the leisure battery. Check the current draw on each product page so you can size your battery bank and charging to match. Our team fits fridges into real conversions, so if you are unsure which model suits your van, just ask.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a compressor and an absorption fridge?
A compressor fridge runs on 12V (and often 24V or mains), cools quickly and handles hot weather well. An absorption fridge runs silently on gas, 230V hook-up or 12V while driving, making it a good fit for vehicles with a gas supply that spend time off grid.
Which fridge is best for a campervan conversion?
Most campervan conversions use a 12V compressor fridge, as it is efficient on leisure battery power, works without gas and tolerates the van being parked on a slope. Drawer and slimline models are popular where space is tight.
Will a 12V fridge flatten my leisure battery?
Not if your system is sized properly. Check the fridge's current draw on the product page, then match it with enough battery capacity and charging from solar, a DC to DC charger or hook-up. Our team can help you work this out.
Do absorption fridges need ventilation?
Yes. Absorption fridges need the correct upper and lower vents fitted to the outside of the vehicle, and gas connections must be made by a competent engineer. Compressor fridges also need some airflow around the rear to work efficiently.
Do you deliver fridges for free?
Yes, every order ships free to UK mainland addresses, excluding the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. Call 0330 122 7773 if you need help before ordering.
